The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has urged the Federal Government to accelerate the privatisation of state-owned refineries, saying that the move is essential to boosting domestic oil production and reducing Nigeria’s costly reliance on imported petroleum products. The call is contained in the NESG’s new economic review, “2025 Q3 GDP Alert,” which highlights the sharp drop in refinery sector growth, from 20.5 per cent in Q2 2025 to 5.84 per cent in Q3 2025. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says about 9.89 million Nigerians have completed online pre-registration in the first phase of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. According to Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, 2,572,054 applicants have completed their registration, either fully online or through physical capture. The first phase of CVR ends on December 10, 2025, after which the voters’ register will be displayed for claims and objections from December 15 to 21.
