The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says about 9.89 million Nigerians have completed online pre-registration in the first phase of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, 2,572,054 applicants have completed their registration, either fully online or through physical capture.
The first phase of CVR ends on December 10, 2025, after which the voters’ register will be displayed for claims and objections from December 15 to 21. The second phase of the CVR exercise will begin on January 15, 2026.
INEC noted that the nationwide CVR began with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, followed by in-person registration a week later on August 25 across all 774 LGAs, state offices, and the FCT.
A statement from the Commission added: “In line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections will hold from 15th to 21st December 2025 at the Local Government Offices where the registration took place.”
INEC urged all eligible voters, particularly those who registered, transferred their registration, or updated their details during this phase, to use the display window to confirm their information, report errors, or flag ineligible or deceased persons.
Providing a weekly update, the Commission reported that by the end of the 13th week of the exercise:
- 9,891,801 online pre-registrations were received nationwide.
- 2,572,054 registrations were fully completed, including 1,503,832 done online and 1,068,222 completed physically as of November 28, 2025.
INEC also reminded the public that CVR in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) remains suspended due to ongoing electoral activities. New dates for resumption will be announced later.
The Commission confirmed that the second phase of CVR will resume on January 5, 2026, in accordance with previously released timelines.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a credible, transparent, and inclusive voter register and appealed for continued public cooperation.
