Sahara Group has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, reaffirming its commitment to responsible energy development and sustainable business practices across its global operations.
The report, themed “Sustainability Beyond Energy: Responsible Growth, Enduring Impact,” outlines how the company integrates environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and strong governance across its upstream, midstream, downstream, power, energy trading, and oilfield services businesses.
Speaking on the report, Ejiro Gray said the publication reflects the company’s group-wide sustainability strategy across the entire energy value chain.
“Our sustainability journey runs across all our businesses, from upstream operations and oilfield services to power generation and energy trading. By embedding environmental responsibility, social impact, and strong governance into how we operate, we are strengthening the foundation for long-term value creation,” she said.
The report highlights measurable progress in environmental protection, operational safety, and social impact initiatives.
According to Sahara Group, its recycling programmes helped prevent more than 600,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions, while circular economy initiatives enabled the recovery of significant volumes of recyclable materials.
The company also maintained a zero lost-time injury record across several business units, supported by more than four million man-hours worked safely across operations.
Beyond environmental performance, the report details sustained investments in education, skills development, and community support initiatives, reaching thousands of beneficiaries across the markets where the company operates.
Commenting further, Bethel Obioma said the report reflects the company’s strategic shift toward a “Beyond Energy” approach, positioning sustainability as a core business objective.
“The Beyond Energy theme captures how we articulate responsibility across all our businesses. It provides a clear and consistent narrative of how Sahara Group approaches growth, impact, and accountability as an African-rooted company operating to global standards,” he said.
Within its upstream and oilfield services operations, Sahara Group said it remains focused on environmental management, operational integrity, safety, and host community engagement.
The company noted that sustainability considerations are embedded into project planning and execution, with emphasis on responsible exploration, production practices, asset stewardship, and compliance with evolving environmental and regulatory standards.
Across its downstream and energy trading businesses, the group said it continues to prioritise transparency, operational efficiency, and responsible supply chain management, while reinforcing ethical conduct and environmental responsibility in global trading and logistics activities.
In the power and infrastructure segment, Sahara Group stated that its sustainability efforts are centred on reliable energy delivery, operational efficiency, and long-term system resilience aligned with global energy transition priorities.
The report also highlights the company’s ongoing investments in renewable energy platforms, nature-based solutions, circular economy initiatives, and social impact programmes designed to create long-term value in host communities.
Governance, according to the report, remains central to Sahara Group’s sustainability framework, with sustainability principles integrated into enterprise risk management and strategic decision-making processes across all business divisions.
Prepared in line with global sustainability reporting frameworks and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the report reflects Sahara Group’s broader “Beyond Energy” vision as the company marks 30 years of operations in the global energy sector.
