The Police Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of successful candidates in the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force, directing applicants to check their status on the official recruitment portal.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, the PSC said candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination can begin checking their recruitment status from Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Successful applicants will proceed to the next phase of the recruitment process, which includes medical screening, documentation, and training.
The Commission said the recruitment exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, State Career and Counselling Departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee to ensure a transparent, fair, and inclusive process.
Applicants who pass the selection stage will also receive notifications via email and SMS using the contact details submitted during registration.
Successful candidates are expected to report to their designated Police Training Institutions on dates to be announced later for medical examinations and documentation.
The PSC warned that candidates who fail to report within the stipulated period will be deemed to have declined the offer.
It also stated that applicants who fail the mandatory medical examination conducted by the Police Medical Team will be disqualified from the training programme.
Candidates are required to report with their training call-up slip, National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), original and photocopies of their educational certificates, and other documents specified on the recruitment portal.
PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 police constables, describing it as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
He urged successful candidates to see their selection as an opportunity to serve the country with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
President Tinubu approved the expansion of the police recruitment exercise from 30,000 to 50,000 constables in November 2025 to address manpower shortages and improve national security.
The recruitment process, which began with online applications in December 2025, covered both General Duty Constables and specialist positions in areas such as medical services, information technology, communications, transport, marine operations, explosives disposal, K-9, mounted troops, artisans, and the police band.
Following physical screening and written examinations, the release of the successful candidates marks the final stage before medical screening and the commencement of training.
The announcement comes as the Federal Government pursues broader policing reforms, including proposed constitutional amendments to establish state police as part of efforts to improve security nationwide.
