The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has transitioned to a fully paperless system with the launch of WorkflowPro, a digital platform to manage all internal and external correspondence.
The shift was directed by Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director-General, NIMC, in line with the Federal Government’s Enterprise Content Management (ECM) policy requiring Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to digitise official records.
With immediate effect, all stakeholders and members of the public must submit correspondence through the WorkflowPro portal.
NIMC has granted a 30-day transition window from the date of announcement. After that, manual letters and paper-based documents will no longer be accepted.
According to the commission, the platform provides:
- End-to-end tracking with real-time monitoring of submissions
- Faster processing times by eliminating physical file movement
- Secure electronic archiving to prevent document loss
- Full traceability through structured audit trails
NIMC disclosed that WorkflowPro was developed by its internal technical team, underscoring a push toward building local digital capacity within the public service.
The commission said the platform forms part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening document security and advancing digital governance.
Stakeholders can submit correspondence through:
- The official WorkflowPro portal
- QR codes available at designated NIMC facilities
By going paperless, NIMC expects to cut administrative costs and improve efficiency. However, the success of the transition will depend on system reliability and users’ ability to adapt to digital processes.
