The 2025 Consumers Value Awards (CVA) held in Lagos on Wednesday night, with some of Nigeria’s most prominent brands clinching top honours across 60 competitive categories. The Awards, determined by over 15,000 consumer votes, celebrate brands that consistently deliver trust, value, and positive consumer experiences.
Leading the winners’ circle were MTN Nigeria, Checkers Custard, Spectranet, Golden Penny, and LG Electronics, among others.
MTN emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home awards for: Most Reliable Internet Service – MSN, Best Customer Service Brand, Best Green Energy Adoption by a Company, and Best CSR Initiative by a Corporate Brand (MTN Foundation)
The telecom giant also earned praise from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for its role in enhancing transparency and empowering consumers through improved service-disruption notifications and enhanced network performance reporting.
In the consumer staples segment, Checkers Custard emerged as the top Custard & Pap (Ogi/Akamu) Alternative, reflecting its growing dominance in Nigerian households.
Other food and household brands that won big include: Golden Penny Flour Mills – Best Packaged Food Brand; Golden Terra Soya Oil – Most Preferred Healthy Cooking Oil; Peak Milk – Best Dairy Brand, and Golden Penny Pasta – Best Pasta Brand.
Spectranet reaffirmed its leadership in the broadband sector, winning: Most Reliable Internet Service Provider – ISP/LTE, Most Reliable Internet Service Provider – Fibre Optic and Fastest Growing Internet Service Provider – Fibre Optic.
EMZOR was unveiled as the Best Pharmaceutical Brand.
Mrs. Freda Bruce-Bennett, NCC’s Director of Consumer Affairs, described the CVA as “a credible platform for consumer voices”. She emphasised the Commission’s commitment to improving consumer experience through initiatives like the National Coverage Map and enhanced service-disruption notifications.
Representatives from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) were also on hand. They commended the organisers, urging brands to continue delivering on their promises.
Akonte Ekine, the event’s Convener, noted that the Awards remain anchored on integrity, trust, and transparency. “Reputation is earned. Truth and consistency will always satisfy the consumer,” he said.
As the night closed, one theme stood out: Nigerian consumers are rewarding brands that keep their promises-and the CVA has become the trusted platform to amplify their voices.
