Mark Zuckerberg has stated that Meta is ready to spend “a couple of hundred billion dollars” to ensure it stays ahead in the AI race, even if it risks overspending. On the “Access” podcast, the Meta CEO acknowledged the possibility of an “AI bubble” but said that the greater risk for the company is being too slow to embrace what he believes will be the “most important technology” in history.
Zuckerberg believes that moving too cautiously could leave Meta “out of position” when artificial superintelligence arrives. He contrasted Meta’s financial stability with that of private AI companies like OpenAI, which depend on fundraising to cover massive computing costs. He also highlighted Meta’s strategy of concentrating top talent in a specialized lab and providing them with superior computing power and infrastructure to gain a competitive advantage.
