Interswitch has called for the adoption of scalable, technology-driven solutions to strengthen revenue generation, improve transparency, and enhance inclusiveness in Nigeria’s financial system.
The call was made at the close of the Abuja edition of the Nigeria Revenue Summit, the final leg of a nationwide engagement series that began in Lagos.
Speaking at the event, Chinomso Nwachukwu, Chief Financial Officer (Nigeria) at Interswitch, highlighted the evolving role of finance professionals in today’s real-time, data-driven economy.
She noted that finance teams are no longer limited to traditional oversight and cost control functions but now serve as strategic enablers, performance drivers, and key decision-makers within organisations.
Nwachukwu pointed to the growing global adoption of electronic invoicing as a critical tool for improving revenue collection and accountability. “E-invoicing represents a major global shift and a key government-led initiative under the Nigeria Revenue Service to drive transparency and visibility. It can significantly reduce revenue leakages and improve compliance, particularly for businesses,” she said.
She added that Interswitch’s hosting of the Nigeria Revenue Summit 2.0 reflects its commitment to supporting this transformation and advancing efficient revenue systems.
While emphasising the benefits of e-invoicing and digital systems, Nwachukwu stressed the need for strong stakeholder engagement to ensure successful implementation across both the public and private sectors.
The summit forms part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria’s revenue architecture, leveraging technology to improve efficiency, accountability, and economic growth.
