The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), enabling candidates to access their performance online.
Announcing the release on Wednesday, Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, disclosed that the council withheld the results of 167,486 candidates, representing 8.59 per cent of those who sat the computer-based examination, over alleged examination malpractice. The figure marks an improvement from the 9.7 per cent recorded in 2025.
According to WAEC, the withheld results stem from various infractions, including the use of mobile phones in examination halls and organised examination malpractice in some schools.
Candidates can now check their results online after generating or recovering their WAEC Result Checker PIN and Serial Number.
How to Recover Your WAEC PIN and Serial Number
Candidates who do not have their Result Checker PIN or Serial Number can retrieve them by following these steps:
- Visit the WAEC candidate portal.
- Click the “Serial Number and PIN” option.
- Select the 2026 examination year and the appropriate examination type.
- Enter your examination number and the National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration.
- Provide your email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP).
- Enter the OTP to recover your Serial Number and PIN.
Candidates can also download their WAEC Identity Card from the portal.
How to Check Your 2026 WAEC Result
Once you have your examination details, follow these steps:
- Visit the WAEC result portal.
- Enter your 10-digit examination number, comprising your seven-digit centre number and three-digit candidate number.
- Select 2026 as the examination year.
- Choose the appropriate examination type.
- Enter your WAEC Serial Number and PIN.
- Click Submit.
Your result will be displayed on the screen, and you can print or save it for future reference.
The release of the results brings to a close the 2026 WASSCE examination cycle, with thousands of candidates across Nigeria now able to assess their performance and begin preparations for university admissions and other post-secondary opportunities.
