Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday departed Abuja for a three-nation diplomatic tour covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties and attract investment.
The President left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around noon, a day later than initially scheduled.
According to his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the trip will begin with a stop in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where Tinubu will participate in the Africa-France Summit.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, and climate action.
Scheduled for May 11–12, the summit, tagged “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to discuss economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and regional cooperation.
From Kenya, Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14-15.
The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to convene over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investment. The event is held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation.
During both engagements, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s reform agenda and position Nigeria as a prime destination for investment. He will also hold bilateral meetings with global and African business leaders.
The President is accompanied by senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda leg of the trip.
