Remita Payment Services Limited has officially expanded into the consumer and retail space with the launch of a new, comprehensive mobile application designed to simplify personal finance and streamline digital payments.
Unveiled at the Nigeria Fintech Week 2026 (NFW26) held at the Wole Soyinka Centre in Lagos, the Remita App allows users to link and manage multiple bank accounts from a single interface, eliminating the need to jump between fragmented financial apps.
Speaking at the launch, DeRemi Atanda, Remita Managing Director and CEO, emphasised that the app represents a strategic evolution for a company with over two decades of enterprise payment experience.
“While other platforms innovate around products, we are innovating the ecosystem bringing everybody together to serve the customer’s full financial life,” Atanda stated. Having built its reputation processing over ₦100 trillion annually primarily through corporate and government transactions, Remita is now bringing that robust institutional reliability directly to everyday consumers.
Adedayo Adewale, Head of Remita Consumer and Retail Business, highlighted that the app was built to solve the fatigue of app-switching. “They want to be able to start and complete their financial transactions from one place. We wanted to give Nigerians an everyday financial companion, not just another mobile app,” she noted.

Key Features of the Remita App

The new application packs a wide array of lifestyle and financial tools into a single platform:
  • Multi-Account Management: View and manage balances across participating financial institutions.
  • Comprehensive Transactions: Handle local transfers, bill payments, airtime/data purchases, utility bills, merchant payments, and government levies.
  • Lifestyle & Commerce: Access services for flight and event ticket purchases, a retail loans marketplace, micro-pensions, and investments in shares and stocks.
  • Cross-Border Capabilities: Seamlessly execute pan-African transfers funded from local bank accounts, powered by Remita’s integration with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS).
  • Smart Financial Tools: Built-in artificial intelligence (AI) features to support budgeting, expense tracking, and personal financial monitoring.
During his keynote address at NFW26, Atanda reflected on the future of Nigeria’s payment landscape, forecasting that the next ten years will reward ecosystems that successfully convert digital adoption into invisible, highly resilient infrastructure. He stressed that growth must now be measured by real-world impact and cooperative security as regional markets become increasingly interconnected.
With strong backing from its network of banking and financial partners, Remita’s entry into the retail space is poised to shake up Nigeria’s consumer fintech market, offering a unified financial companion built on decades of institutional trust.
