Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain edged Bayern Munich 5–4 in a dramatic first-leg semi-final clash in the UEFA Champions League at Parc des Princes.
The high-octane encounter delivered five goals in a frantic first half and four more after the break, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg in Germany.
Bayern struck first through Harry Kane, who converted from the penalty spot in the 17th minute. PSG responded swiftly, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia curling home an equaliser before João Neves headed the hosts into the lead.
The visitors drew level when Michael Olise finished a brilliant solo run, but PSG regained control just before half-time. A controversial VAR review led to a penalty, which Ousmane Dembélé calmly converted to make it 3–2 at the break.
PSG extended their advantage early in the second half, with Kvaratskhelia adding his second before Dembélé struck again to open up a 5–2 lead.
Bayern refused to fold. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back, and Luis Díaz added another after a fine assist from Kane, reducing the deficit to a single goal and keeping the German side firmly in contention.
PSG’s attacking trio, led by the electric Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé, proved decisive on the night, continuing the French club’s remarkable scoring run in knockout matches. However, conceding four goals at home leaves the tie wide open.
Bayern, already Bundesliga champions and chasing a treble, will take confidence from their late surge and formidable attacking firepower heading into the second leg.
The winner will face either Arsenal or Atlético Madrid in the final in Budapest.
