President Tinubu Appoints New Boards for NCC, USPF

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved new board members for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF). The appointments were announced by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy.

 

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)

Idris Olorunnimbe has been named the new Chairman of the NCC. He previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) board, where he focused on youth employment and entrepreneurship programs.

Dr. Aminu Maida will continue in his role as the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, a position he has held since his appointment in October 2023.

Other members appointed to the NCC board include:

  • Abraham Oshidami (Executive Commissioner, Technical Services)
  • Rimini Makama (Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management)
  • Hajia Maryam Bayi
  • Col Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd)
  • Senator Lekan Mustafa
  • Chris Okorie
  • Princess Oforitsenere Emiko

Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF)

Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, will serve as the Chairman of the USPF board. The USPF was created to expand access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) in rural and underserved parts of Nigeria.

Idris Olorunnimbe will also serve as the Vice Chairman of the USPF board.

  • Rimini Makama
  • Aliyu Edogi Aliyu (representing the Ministry of Communications)
  • Joseph B. Faluyi (representing the Ministry of Finance)
  • Auwal Mohammed (representing the Ministry of Budget and National Planning)
  • Uzoma Dozie
  • Peter Bankole
  • Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon
  • Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri
