Pepsodent has intensified its oral health advocacy in Nigeria with a nationwide school activation campaign, reaching pupils across 17 states as part of activities to mark World Oral Health Day 2026.

The initiative was held simultaneously in major cities including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, and Benin City, among others, providing an interactive platform to educate children on proper oral hygiene practices.

The campaign reached 51 schools nationwide, engaging thousands of pupils through demonstrations, interactive sessions, and practical lessons on brushing techniques, reduced sugar intake, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.

World Oral Health Day, observed annually on March 20, promotes awareness of oral hygiene as a critical component of overall health and well-being.

Speaking at the Lagos activation held at Temidire Primary School, Oke-Odo, Alimosho, Lauretta Amie, Brand Manager, Pepsodent, said the initiative underscores the brand’s long-standing focus on preventive oral care among children.

She explained that combining education with engaging learning methods helps children better understand and adopt healthy habits early in life. “We want families across Nigeria to see brushing twice daily not as a chore, but as a simple habit that makes a real difference. Through education and community engagement, we aim to empower Nigerians to take charge of their oral health,” she said.

Dr. Aminat Ige, Education Secretary, Alimosho Local Government, praised the initiative, noting that it would significantly boost awareness among pupils and their families.

Similarly, Dr. Abraham Akinbami, Dental Surgeon described the programme as impactful, particularly for targeting young people who are more receptive to behavioural change.

Headteacher of Temidire Primary School, Moninuola Lawal, said the campaign would create a ripple effect, with children influencing healthier habits within their households.

The school activation forms part of Unilever Nigeria Plc’s broader commitment, through Pepsodent, to promote preventive oral healthcare across the country.

By equipping children with knowledge and practical tools, the brand aims to build lifelong oral hygiene habits and improve overall health outcomes nationwide.
