The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has continued to galvanise the support of continental public relations community for the successful hosting of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) scheduled to hold from 15th to 21st of November in Abuja.
Speaking on Thursday at the Effective Communicators Conference (ECC) and the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Annual General Meeting in Swakopmund, Namibia, Professor Emmanuel Samu Dandaura, the Chairman of the WPRF Abuja 2026 Continental Advisory Committee and Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), described the forthcoming global event as a defining opportunity for Africa to shape global conversations through strategic communication, calling for active participation.
He noted that with communication professionals, policymakers, business leaders, academics and industry experts expected from more than 126 countries, WPRF Abuja 2026 provides the continent with an unprecedented platform to project authentic African narratives, strengthen professional collaboration and demonstrate Africa’s growing influence in global public relations practice.
Professor Dandaura said the unveiling of the African Theme Song at the event symbolises the continent’s collective commitment to ensuring that the Abuja Forum reflects Africa’s diversity, creativity and communication excellence.
Also speaking, Arik Karani, President of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) and member of the WPRF Abuja 2026 Continental Advisory Committee, commended Nigeria for accepting the responsibility of hosting what he described as Africa’s global public relations event.
He urged national public relations associations across the continent to mobilise their members for active participation in Abuja.
“We must be present in our numbers and with our diverse cultures to warmly welcome and engage with colleagues from every continent of the world. WPRFAbuja2026 belongs not only to Nigeria but to the entire African continent,” he said.
Dignitaries at the event include, Her Excellency Lucia Witbooi, Vice President of the Republic of Namibia, representing His Excellency Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia; His Honour Ndaba Gaolathe, Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Honourable Nathalia Goagoses, Governor of the Erongo Region; Honourable Emma Theofelus, Minister of Information and Communication Technologies among others.
