The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has extended the registration period for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Technical Colleges, giving candidates a four-month window to complete the process.
The extension was announced by Dr Aminu Mohammed, NABTEB’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, in a statement issued in Benin on Sunday through the board’s Assistant Director, Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah.
Under the revised timeline, registration will run from January 26 to May 24, while the examination will be conducted nationwide on June 6.
Dr Mohammed said the decision was approved by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, and aimed at easing pressure on candidates and their families, reducing congestion on the registration portal, and ensuring a smoother registration process.
“This extended timeline is a deliberate policy decision to allow adequate preparation and minimise financial and logistical burdens on parents and guardians,” he said.
He added that NABTEB has strengthened its administrative and technological systems to support seamless registration while maintaining examination integrity.
The registrar warned candidates to register only through NABTEB’s official online portal, cautioning against unauthorised agents and third-party platforms. He also advised early registration to avoid last-minute challenges.
Dr Mohammed reaffirmed NABTEB’s commitment to transparency and professionalism and encouraged Nigerians to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a pathway to employable skills, entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance.
NABTEB conducts technical and vocational examinations nationwide, including the NCEE and National Business Certificate examinations, as part of its mandate to promote skills-based education and workforce readiness.
