The Lagos State Government has issued a November 10 deadline to the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) to comply with the electronic call-up (e-call-up) system regulating truck movements along the Lekki-Epe corridor.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Commissioner for Transportation, announced the ultimatum on Thursday, warning that enforcement actions would follow any further non-compliance.
According to Osiyemi, NUPENG members have continued to violate e-call-up guidelines by collecting cash and parking indiscriminately on the busy route, a situation that has worsened traffic congestion and disrupted the area’s transport efficiency.
He emphasised that all trucks must undergo validation and clearance before accessing designated holding parks, a key component of the digital management system.
The e-call-up system, introduced to reduce gridlock around the Lekki Free Trade Zone, coordinates truck entry and exit through an online booking platform. Designated parks under the scheme include Hog Marketing Ltd. (Okorisan, Epe), Nilmage Two4Seven (Poka, Epe), Goldspeed Freight Agency (opposite Dangote Refinery), Diamond Star Ports (Abule Panu), and Tal Concept Ltd. (HFP Brick Industry).
Despite multiple meetings and an agreed ₦10,000 enforcement fee per truck, NUPENG has been slow to comply. The state government has now made it clear, November 10 is the final deadline before full-scale enforcement begins.
