The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has listed Oke Umurhohwo as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ughelli North Constituency II in the February 6, 2027, Delta State House of Assembly election.
Umurhohwo’s name appears on page 179, serial number 227, of INEC’s published final list of candidates for the election.
The development marks a significant step in the political journey of the marketing professional and community development advocate, who is seeking to represent Ughelli, Agbarho and Uwheru in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Reacting to the publication, Umurhohwo expressed gratitude to God, the PDP leadership and members, political stakeholders, friends and supporters who have encouraged him throughout the process.
He described his inclusion on the list as an important milestone and a reminder of the responsibility involved in seeking public office.
“Every stage of this journey has strengthened my understanding of the expectations of our people and the responsibility that comes with asking for their trust,” he said.
He added: “My gratitude goes to everyone who has supported, encouraged and advised me along the way. I do not take any of it for granted.”
Umurhohwo, who serves as Marketing Director at StarTimes Nigeria and founded Ughelli Rovers Football Club, has made accessible, accountable and responsive legislative representation a central part of his campaign.
His agenda focuses on strengthening engagement between elected representatives and constituents, promoting youth and human capital development, expanding economic opportunities and advancing legislative advocacy for community development.
Among his proposed initiatives are a functional constituency office, regular town hall meetings and periodic reports to constituents on legislative activities and interventions.
He has also emphasised that legislators should be assessed on their constitutional responsibilities, including lawmaking, representation, appropriation and oversight, rather than promises that fall outside the legislature’s mandate.
As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, Umurhohwo said he would continue engaging communities across the constituency while presenting what he described as a practical agenda for effective representation.
“Our commitment remains the same: representation that people can reach, leadership they can trust, and a legislative office that remains accountable to the people it serves,” he said.
Umurhohwo is contesting under the PDP platform with the campaign slogan: “Representation You Can Reach. Leadership You Can Trust.”
