The Federal Government will launch Nigeria’s National Single Window (NSW) platform on March 27, in a move aimed at transforming the country’s trade processes.

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting at the State House in Abuja, attended by ministers, heads of agencies, and senior government officials.

He described the initiative as a major fiscal reform introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to simplify import and export procedures and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade.

The National Single Window is a centralised digital platform that will integrate trade-related agencies, enabling importers and exporters to process documentation and clear goods through a single portal.

President Tinubu inaugurated the project committee in April 2024 and directed that the platform become operational in the first quarter of 2026 as part of efforts to support Nigeria’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy.

Coordinator of the project, Tola Fakolade, said the first phase will allow online processing of import permits and electronic submission of cargo manifests, supported by a centralised risk-management system.

He added that the platform will reduce port delays, eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks, and improve transparency while lowering the cost of doing business.

Paperless trade alone is projected to generate about $2.7 billion annually for Nigeria.
