The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has introduced a new digital Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) platform to ensure transparency and efficiency in its ₦19.5 billion AgGrow Farm Support Program. This initiative aims to provide significant aid to 50,000 smallholder farmers across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The AgGrow program offers a 50 per cent subsidy on essential agricultural inputs including seeds, fertilizers, and crop protection products (CPPs). Farmers specializing in maize, rice, cassava, and soybeans value chains are the primary beneficiaries.
Mohammed Ibrahim, NADF Executive Secretary, hailed the new M&E platform as a “game-changer.” He stated, “This platform ensures that every seed, every input, and every naira invested is properly tracked from distribution to usage, so that we can keep learning, improving, and delivering results aligned with national priorities.”
The AgGrow scheme is designed to directly link farmers with processors through structured outgrower arrangements. NADF will fully finance the initial inputs for farmers, with processors responsible for repaying half of that value after harvest. This innovative approach aims to bridge the gap between agricultural producers and the processing sector, reduce dependency on middlemen, and enhance the reliable sourcing of raw materials for agro-processing industries nationwide.
