The Eko Electricity Distribution Plc is set to use the EKEDP Power App, a smart digital platform designed to give customers more control, visibility and convenience in managing their electricity consumption.

Built to simplify everyday power management, the app allows users to buy tokens, pay bills, transfer units, monitor usage, manage service requests and access multiple electricity services, all in one place.

Designed around the needs of modern Lagos consumers, the EKEDP Power App aims to reduce the stress, uncertainty and fragmented processes often associated with electricity management by creating a faster, simpler and more connected customer experience.

Since the emergence of electricity distribution companies following the unbundling of the National Electricity Agency, many DisCos have rolled out different power apps.

However, according to a statement jointly signed by Ejiro Olaleye, Head of Department, Client and MDA Management, and Olumide Jerome, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Operations Strategy and Corporate Development, the app is not one of the run-of-the-mill apps deployed by other DisCos, but one that empowers customers to confidently manage their power consumption.

“With the EKEDP Power App, customers move from simply using electricity to actively managing their power with greater confidence and control,” Olaleye said.

She urged the company’s customers to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the app to take control of their power usage.

Each DisCo is responsible for electricity distribution activities in designated geographical areas, known as licence areas, across Nigeria. EKEDP covers the licence area comprising the southern part of Lagos State and Agbara in Ogun State.

For ease of operations and division of work, the EKEDP licence area is segmented into 12 districts, namely Agbara, Ojo, Festac, Ijora, Mushin and Orile. Others are Apapa, Lekki, Ibeju, Islands, Ajah and Ajele.

Electricity customers in these licence areas are potential beneficiaries of the innovation.
