The Bank Directors Association of Nigeria (BDAN) has appointed Dr. Oluwayemisi Olorunshola as Chairman of its Board of Directors, following the retirement of Mustafa Chike-Obi after completing his tenure.
Dr. Olorunshola currently serves as Chairman of Wema Bank Plc and brings over 25 years of experience spanning supply chain management, business leadership, and corporate governance. Her career includes more than 15 years in a multinational organisation and over a decade as a business manager, with expertise in production planning, procurement, distribution, logistics, and import-export operations.
She joined BDAN’s Board in January 2023 and has played an active role in advancing the Association’s mission to strengthen bank governance and promote sustainable leadership in Nigeria’s banking sector.
Dr. Olorunshola holds a B.Sc. in Education and Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, an MBA from University of Liverpool, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Walden University. She is also a Fellow of the International Institute for African Scholars and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
Adebukola Orenuga, BDAN Chief Executive Officer, described her as a principled and accomplished leader, expressing confidence that her leadership will strengthen the Association’s strategic impact and advocacy for bank directors nationwide.
