The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed that it has guaranteed 1,232,326 loans valued at N130.903 billion under the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF) from its inception in 1977 to May 2022, this year.    The scheme has a loan recovery rate of about 85 per cent with 973,646 beneficiaries out of 1,232,326 repaying over N98 billion.   The Board Chairman of ACGSF, Mr. Stephen Okon, made the disclosure recently at the second ACGSF National Farmers’ Award.    The ACGSF Board Chairman disclosed that in 2021, 31,591 farmers obtained loans worth N5.79 billion under the scheme. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command, has announced that it generated N522.4 billion in the first half of 2022. Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law a new universal health coverage Act with plans to set up a healthcare fund to cover up to 83 million poor people who cannot afford premiums for insurance schemes. Tagged the National Health Insurance Authority Bill 2022, it replaces the National Health Insurance Scheme Act, Cap N42, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. Titan Trust Bank has formalised the acquisition of 89 per cent of Union Bank of Nigeria (UBN) Plc in an off-market deal said to be worth N191 billion. The deal bloated the entire stock market trade metrics, as the volume traded stood at 27.565 billion units, while traded value settled at N194.356 billion. Nigeria’s internet subscribers reached 148 million in April 2022, information from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) shows. According to the latest industry statistics posted on its website, NCC revealed that mobile (GSM) accounted for 147.45 million subscribers with the remaining made up of fixed wired and VoIP.
