Brother Harrison and I joined the SSV group on the same day and time and were active shortly before Pst Gold took over the group and revolutionized the group. We were actually planning to leave the unit before the visionary disposition of Pst Gold literally transformed the unit and changed our lives simultaneously.
Bro Harrison and I shared so many interests. We read the same course, attended the same university, had the same fellowship and the same unit in the fellowship, attended the same local church, and graduated on the same day! Most of my picture gallery during our undergraduate days is littered with his face next to mine. We sat in the same seat in the auditorium on graduation day. We only drifted after graduation, especially when he pitched his abode in Sokoto State and raised a family, though we remained in touch.
He was a good man, a great man with great plans and vision for the future. He was a man of faith, courage, and wisdom. He literally mentored me in business. He’d always exuded confidence despite the daunting challenges around him. He never showed fear, even in the face of some intimidation and threats by certain lecturers. He would always assure me and say, “Austin, don’t mind these people; we must graduate.” And we did!
Harrison was an active SSVite, a devout and staunch Christian. He was also used by God. There was an off-campus fellowship program, I think it was organised by SSV( I stand to be corrected). It was held in the King Square garden area. People came forward for prayers. When Harrison laid hands on a sister, she fell down flat so fast she fell asleep! Even Harrison was in disbelief. The Holy Ghost manifested His power sensationally through him.
He was also a kind soul who was always willing to share his last with you, not minding the consequence. His mouth was full of wisdom and wit, with a good sense of humour. Never a dull moment with him. We lived like brothers and friends. I am missing him terribly. I still can’t believe it!
Well, I am consoled by the fact that he’s in the bosom of the Lord, resting from his labours. Almighty God grant the wife and family, especially the aged mother, comfort and fortitude to bear the loss.
