The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a three-day planned power outage in the Lekki area of Lagos as it carries out network upgrade works aimed at improving electricity supply.
In a notice to customers, the distribution company said the outage will affect Lekki and nearby communities within its Lekki District network.
According to EKEDC, the disruption will run from Thursday, March 13, to Saturday, March 15, 2026, as engineers upgrade facilities at the Lekki Injection Substation.
The company said electricity supply will be unavailable daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. throughout the three-day period while the upgrade work is ongoing.
EKEDC explained that the exercise is necessary to improve operational flexibility, strengthen power evacuation, and enhance service delivery to customers in the district.
The upgrade comes as the Lekki corridor continues to experience rapid urban growth, with new residential estates, commercial hubs, and industrial developments increasing electricity demand.
Power distributors have faced mounting pressure to expand network capacity and improve supply reliability in the fast-growing area.
EKEDC said the project forms part of broader efforts to modernise its distribution infrastructure and reduce faults and voltage fluctuations across its network.
Similar scheduled outages have occurred in the past to allow maintenance and upgrades, including work linked to the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.
Power sector experts note that temporary outages are often required to safely install or replace critical equipment needed to improve long-term electricity reliability.
