The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 4,500 personnel across Abuja to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1st.

Olusola Odumosu, FCT Commandant announced the massive deployment, stating its purpose is to protect lives, property, and critical national assets before, during, and after the holiday.

The personnel, drawn from specialized units like the Female Strike Force and the CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives) unit, have been strategically stationed at all vulnerable locations. These areas include:

  • Shopping malls, markets, and recreational centers.
  • The City Gate and the Three Arms Zone.
  • Government buildings and sensitive national asset locations.

Odumosu confirmed that undercover operatives are also on the ground for surveillance and that suspected criminal hideouts are under watch. He charged his officers to maintain professionalism and coordinate with other security agencies, while also urging FCT residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
