The historic Awolowo House in Ikeja, Lagos, has been demolished to make way for a new, state-of-the-art tech hub called the Awolowo Technology Mall. The new project, a joint venture between Wemabod and El-Salem Nigeria Limited, aims to honor Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s legacy of innovation.
The new mall will feature over 9,000 square meters of commercial space, more than double the size of the previous building. It’s designed to be a central hub for top-tier IT companies, showcasing the latest technologies and innovations from around the world.
According to Ben Gbade Ojo, Managing Director of El-Salem Nigeria Limited, the mall will be a place for leading ICT experts to gather, offer training, and display a wide range of tech products. He stated that the goal is for people to find any ICT or electronic product they need at the mall, eliminating the need to travel outside Nigeria.
This development follows a report by Statisense, an AI data analytics company, which ranked Lagos as the world’s fastest-growing emerging technology ecosystem in 2025. The new mall is expected to attract global tech firms and further strengthen Lagos’s position as a leading technology hub. With its focus on innovation, training, and solutions, the Awolowo Technology Mall is set to become a key player in Nigeria’s rapidly growing tech sector.
