The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Lagos State Chapter heartily congratulates Tunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 24 February 2026.
Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, PhD, fnipr, frpa, the Chapter’s Chairman, describes this appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his distinguished service, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force. As a valued member of the Lagos State Chapter of NIPR, AIG Disu has consistently demonstrated a strong appreciation for strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and responsible public information management in policing.
The Chairman particularly recalls his impactful tenure as Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) from 2015 to 2021, during which he strengthened operational efficiency while maintaining constructive engagement with the media and the public. His leadership style reflected transparency, discipline and responsiveness: qualities that are indispensable in contemporary security administration.
The Lagos State Chapter of NIPR expresses confidence that, in his new capacity as Acting Inspector General of Police, he will continue to uphold the principles of accountability, ethical leadership and effective public communication. Dr Ayetutu noted that “we believe his appointment will further strengthen public trust and enhance institutional credibility at the highest level of policing in Nigeria.”
The Chapter wishes him wisdom, courage and outstanding success as he assumes this critical national responsibility.
