The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly, Ughelli North Constituency II, Hon. Oke Umurhohwo, has unveiled a five-point legislative agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The agenda, announced by the Oke Umurhohwo Campaign Organisation, outlines his proposed priorities for legislative representation across Ughelli, Agbarho and Uwheru.
In a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Team, the Campaign Organisation said the agenda would form the basis of a public enlightenment series titled “What Representation Should Look Like,” aimed at explaining the responsibilities of state lawmakers and encouraging public discussion on effective representation.
The five-point agenda covers better representation, youth and human capital development, economic opportunity, infrastructure and community development, and accountability and transparency.
Under better representation, Umurhohwo proposes to establish a functional constituency office, hold quarterly town hall meetings and maintain regular communication with constituents to improve accessibility and public participation.
On youth and human capital development, the PDP candidate plans to advocate policies and partnerships that expand access to education, vocational training, employment opportunities and youth participation in governance.
The third priority, economic opportunity, focuses on legislative advocacy and partnerships to support entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises, agricultural development and local economic growth.
For infrastructure and community development, Umurhohwo intends to use legislative advocacy, budget scrutiny and oversight to draw government attention to pressing needs in roads, healthcare, education, environmental management and other essential public infrastructure.
The fifth priority, accountability and transparency, includes commitments to regular legislative updates, an annual constituency performance scorecard, public engagement and oversight of government programmes and expenditure.
According to the Campaign Organisation, the agenda reflects Umurhohwo’s position that effective legislative representation should extend beyond election promises and the occupation of public office.
The organisation stated that elected representatives must remain accessible to their constituents, understand community challenges and use their legislative responsibilities to advance public interests.
It further explained that the proposed “What Representation Should Look Like” series would examine each priority in detail, clarify the constitutional functions of a state legislator and outline the commitments Umurhohwo intends to pursue if elected.
The Campaign Organisation also acknowledged that meaningful constituency development requires cooperation among government institutions, traditional and community leaders, young people, women, professionals, business owners and other stakeholders.
It invited residents of Ughelli North Constituency II to contribute ideas, raise questions and participate in discussions about the constituency’s development priorities.
Umurhohwo is contesting the 2027 Delta State House of Assembly election on the platform of the PDP, seeking to represent Ughelli North Constituency II, comprising communities across Ughelli, Agbarho and Uwheru.
