The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Anambra State Chapter, has officially unveiled plans for its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Summit, scheduled to hold on March 12 and 13, 2026.
According to the programme, activities on Day One will take place at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, while Day Two will be hosted at the International Convention Centre, Awka.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, assured stakeholders that the institute would deliver an event marked by excellence, describing it as a defining attribute of Anambra State.
The unveiling ceremony was performed by Dr. Law Mefor, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, at the ICT Hall of the Anambra State Light House, Awka. The event attracted journalists, NIPR members and key stakeholders, including Emeka Ozumba, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha (NIPR Council Member), Professor Stella Okunna (Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University), and Professor Angela Nwammuo, Chairperson of the NIPR Anambra Chapter.
The theme of the 2026 AGM and Summit is “Managing Reputation Capital in the Digital Age: Influence, Integrity and Impact.” The National President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, is expected to attend the event.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Omenugha described reputation capital as a critical strategic asset that must be “intentionally built, ethically managed and continuously protected,” especially in the digital era.
He announced that Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, National President of the Nigerian Bar Association, will deliver the keynote address. He also revealed that the institute will confer the Young Reputation Champion Award on two individuals and two brands, while seven brands and three individuals will receive the NIPR Lifetime Reputation Management Award.
Dr. Omenugha expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Government for its support towards the success of the event.
In her remarks, Professor Angela Nwammuo commended the organising committee for the progress made so far and pledged the chapter’s full support. Professor Kate Omenugha, a member of the NIPR Governing Council, also applauded the team for its efforts.
Performing the unveiling, Commissioner Dr. Law Mefor noted that the summit’s theme aligns with current realities in the state, stressing that issues such as the prolonged Monday sit-at-home had negatively impacted Anambra’s reputation and economy. He said the government’s decision to address the situation was aimed at restoring confidence and economic stability, while pledging full support for the summit.
Established by an Act of Parliament, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is Nigeria’s statutory professional body for public relations practitioners. The 2026 Anambra Chapter AGM and Summit is designed for PR professionals who are members of the Institute.
