Globacom has donated ₦1 billion to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), reinforcing its commitment to public safety and sustainable economic growth in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The donation, one of the largest private-sector contributions to the Fund in recent years, followed Globacom’s participation in the LSSTF Private Sector Breakfast Meeting with CEOs, hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on January 30, 2026. The forum focused on strengthening collaboration between government and business to improve security, innovation, and economic resilience.

Welcoming the donation, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, LSSTF Executive Secretary/CEO, described it as a strong show of corporate citizenship and a strategic investment in Lagos’ stability. He said the funds would significantly boost the Trust Fund’s 2026 priorities, including the acquisition of security helicopters and drones, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), water cannons, smart CCTV systems, and digital communication equipment to enhance proactive policing and rapid response.

A senior Globacom executive said the contribution reflects the company’s belief that security is a shared responsibility. “When people feel safe, businesses grow and communities thrive. Supporting the LSSTF is about protecting the daily aspirations of millions of Lagosians,” the executive said.

Globacom noted that the donation aligns with its long-standing approach to corporate social responsibility, which includes support for disaster relief, displaced persons, youth skills development, education, culture, and digital inclusion.

Dr Ogunsan also encouraged residents to support companies that invest in the state’s safety, noting that such contributions directly impact the protection of lives, property, and economic activity.

With the latest intervention, the LSSTF is expected to scale its operations further, strengthening Lagos State’s security framework and reinforcing its status as Nigeria’s leading commercial hub.
