Five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo has hit one billion combined followers on social media.
The 39-year-Portuguese, who now plays for Saudi Arabia’s professional club, Al Nassr, announced the feat on his social media handles on Thursday.
“We’ve made history — 1 BILLION followers! This is more than just a number – it’s a testament to our shared passion, drive, and love for the game and beyond”, he wrote.
Ronaldo, who won continental and local trophies with Manchester United, Real Madrid, also led Portugal to victory in the inaugural UEFA Nations League in 2019, receiving the top scorer award in the finals, and later the Golden Boot as the top scorer of Euro 2020. In the same tournament, he broke the record for most international goals scored in men’s football and became the player with the most international caps in men’s football in 2023.
He further wrote: “From the streets of Madeira to the biggest stages in the world, I’ve always played for my family and you, and now 1 billion of us stand together. You’ve been with me every step of the way, through all the highs and the lows.
“This journey is our journey, and together, we’ve shown that there are no limits to what we can achieve. Thank you for believing in me, for your support, and being part of my life. The best is yet to come, and we’ll keep pushing, winning, and making history together”.
