Ikeja Electric has appointed Mrs. Ogochukwu Onyelucheya as its Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026, marking a new leadership transition aimed at strengthening operational performance, driving innovation and enhancing customer service.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued in Lagos by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kingsley Okotie, and made available through the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Onyelucheya succeeds Mrs. Folake Soetan, who has led Nigeria’s largest electricity distribution company since 2020.
Announcing the appointment, Chairman of Ikeja Electric, Kola Adesina, described Onyelucheya as an experienced business leader whose appointment will build on the company’s achievements while positioning it for its next phase of growth.
“Ogochukwu brings leadership experience, strategic clarity and execution discipline. We are confident in her ability to build on the foundation already laid,” Adesina said.
He added that her leadership would accelerate innovation, improve operational efficiency and deepen the company’s customer-focused strategy.
Responding to her appointment, Onyelucheya described the opportunity to lead Ikeja Electric as both an honour and a responsibility.
“Taking responsibility for building on the strong foundation at Ikeja Electric is a privilege,” she said.
She pledged to strengthen service delivery, deepen customer trust and create sustainable value for customers, employees, shareholders and other stakeholders.
“We will remain focused on sustainable performance and delivering greater value,” she added.
Onyelucheya brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across the banking and energy sectors, where she has led strategic planning, financial management and business transformation initiatives.
Her expertise spans operational excellence, process automation, digital transformation, revenue assurance and financial control.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, a Master’s degree in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London, and is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School.
The Board expressed confidence that her experience and leadership capabilities would guide Ikeja Electric through its next phase of growth and transformation.
