Facebook has launched the sixth edition of its pan-African “Made by Africa, Loved by the World” campaign, with this year’s spotlight focused on African cinema and storytelling ahead of Africa Day on May 25.
The 2026 campaign, themed “Where Stories Spark Community,” features a five-part vodcast series highlighting internationally recognised actors and filmmakers from Nigeria and South Africa.
According to Meta, the series will be hosted by popular African podcast platforms I Said What I Said from Nigeria and Because We Said So from South Africa.
Speaking on the campaign, Kezia Anim-Addo, Communications Director for Africa, Middle East and Turkey at Meta, said the initiative continues to celebrate African talents making global impact.
“For six years, Made by Africa has spotlighted talent from across the continent making a mark globally. This year, film takes centre stage. From Nollywood to South African cinema, African stories are reaching audiences worldwide,” she said.
The campaign profiles five prominent actors and filmmakers:
- Kehinde Bankole – AMVCA-winning actress known for roles in Netflix and Amazon Prime productions.
- Linda Mtoba – Award-winning actress recognised for productions including Isibaya and The River.
- Nomzamo Mbatha – Actress, producer and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador featured in Coming 2 America and Shaka iLembe.
- Osas Ighodaro – Nigerian-American actress and producer known for The Smart Money Woman and Fela and the Kalakuta Queens.
- Tobi Bakre – Actor known for Brotherhood and Gangs of Lagos.
Each episode explores the stars’ creative journeys, global influence, and how they use Facebook to connect with audiences and build communities around African storytelling.
The campaign also includes the return of the #ShareYourAfrica challenge, encouraging creators across fashion, dance, lifestyle, and culture to use Meta AI tools and Reels to showcase African identity and traditions.
Short clips from the vodcast series will be available on the Meta Africa Facebook page, while full episodes will air on the featured podcast channels and creators’ platforms.
