The newly elected executive of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Cross River State Chapter, has pledged deeper collaboration with the state government to strengthen ethical standards and professionalism in public relations practice.

The assurance was given on Monday during a courtesy visit by the NIPR delegation to Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu.

Receiving the team alongside the Chief Press Secretary and the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Ironbar commended NIPR for its strong reputation for ethics and professional discipline, describing the Institute as one he has long admired.

“NIPR is a body that stands tall on ethics and integrity, and that reputation informed my personal decision to join the Institute,” he said.

Ironbar congratulated the newly inaugurated executive committee and urged members to see their election as a responsibility rather than a privilege, stressing the need to uphold the values of the profession.

“You must continue to protect the ethics and integrity of this noble profession,” he charged.

He also expressed interest in attending the NIPR Week 2026, scheduled to hold in Kaduna, and pledged support to enable members of the Cross River Chapter to participate in large numbers. Ironbar further promised to be an active member of the Institute at both chapter and national levels, noting that effective public relations is critical to good governance and public trust.

“I see my membership as a call to active service, not a ceremonial one,” he said.

The Chief of Staff also pledged to support the chapter’s growth, with a view to positioning it as one of the leading NIPR chapters nationwide. He disclosed his readiness to host the next chapter meeting to formally celebrate his induction into the Institute.

Earlier, the Chapter Chairman, Austin Mboso, who led the delegation alongside Dr. Eric Ogri, Finance Secretary and Head of the Department of Public Relations, University of Calabar, said the visit was to formally present the new executive committee and congratulate Ironbar on his induction as a chartered member of NIPR.

Mboso invited the Chief of Staff to participate in the NIPR Week 2026, slated for April 19–25, 2026, and sought his support to facilitate mass participation by chapter members. He also invited him to the chapter’s next monthly meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, expressing optimism about sustained collaboration.
