…Veteran communications professional recognised for over three decades of contributions to corporate reputation, sustainability and public affairs
Victoria Uwadoka, a veteran corporate communications and sustainability professional, has been inducted into the Brandcom Awards Hall of Fame in recognition of her contributions to Nigeria’s marketing and communications industry.
The honour, announced by the management and editorial board of Brand Communicator, organisers of the 2026 Brandcom Awards, comes as Uwadoka retires from Nestlé Nigeria after a career spanning more than three decades.
The Hall of Fame is the awards’ highest distinction, recognising individuals whose professional achievements, leadership and industry contributions have created lasting value for organisations and society.
According to the organisers, Uwadoka’s selection followed an assessment of her professional accomplishments, innovation, mentorship, industry influence and contributions to society.
Reacting to the recognition, she said the induction celebrated not only professional achievement but also lasting contributions to the industry and future generations of practitioners.
“I am honoured to receive this induction into the BRANDCOM Awards Hall of Fame,” she said, adding that the recognition reinforced her belief that strategic communication is a leadership function that builds trust, supports sustainable growth and creates enduring value for organisations and communities.
The induction is particularly significant as it coincides with the end of her tenure at Nestlé Nigeria, where she led Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability until October 21, 2026.
Uwadoka joined Nestlé Nigeria in December 2016. In that role, she worked to align the company’s reputation management, stakeholder engagement and sustainability priorities with its broader business objectives.
Before joining the food and beverage company, she served as Marketing Communications Manager for Microsoft West and Central Africa, leading communications and marketing activities across French-speaking markets in the region.
Her professional experience also spans entertainment, beauty and healthcare, and information and communications technology. This cross-sector exposure helped shape her approach to communications as a strategic business function rather than simply a tool for publicity.
Beyond her corporate roles, Uwadoka has contributed to industry development and professional collaboration. She serves as Vice Chair for Africa of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Advertising and Marketing Commission, which engages with issues relating to ethical marketing and advertising practices.
She also chairs the NECA Committee of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Experts, promoting knowledge sharing and stronger professional standards among practitioners.
Another strand of her work is the effort to improve Nigeria’s image and international reputation. Through Pivot Nigeria: Reframing the Lens, an initiative she founded, Uwadoka advocates a more balanced national narrative that reflects the country’s potential and contributions.
Mentorship has also featured prominently in her career, with her support for emerging communications and public affairs professionals helping to develop talent in a field where credibility, sound judgement and strategic thinking are increasingly important.
Her industry recognitions include being named among the Women in Marketing and Communications Africa (WIMCA) Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications and being recognised on the PR Power List. She has also received awards for excellence in public relations, corporate reputation and responsible business.
Uwadoka joins a distinguished list of industry figures inducted into the Brandcom Hall of Fame, including Biodun Shobanjo, chairman of Troyka Holdings, who received the honour at the inaugural edition in 2019.
Her induction underscores the growing recognition of corporate communications as a strategic leadership function that shapes business decisions, builds stakeholder confidence and supports sustainable development.
As she exits Nestlé Nigeria, the honour recognises a career defined by corporate leadership, professional advocacy, mentorship and efforts to strengthen trust between businesses and society.
