Guinness Nigeria Plc has rewarded 1,075 consumers under its national Open For More promotion, with Queen Thompson emerging as the grand prize winner of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado valued at ₦150 million.
The vehicle was presented to Thompson at the company’s headquarters in Ogba, Lagos, by Girish Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guinness Nigeria.
Launched on July 18, 2026, the 10-week promotion rewarded 1,000 consumers with ₦100,000 each and another 75 with ₦1 million each, before the grand prize draw produced Thompson as the overall winner.
The promotion was conducted under the regulatory oversight of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), which supervised key aspects of the process, including approval of the terms, winner selection and prize delivery.
Speaking at the presentation, Sharma highlighted the changing demographics of Guinness consumers and expressed delight that a woman had emerged as the grand prize winner.
“I’m particularly excited that the winner is a woman. Many didn’t know that Guinness consumers are now 50-50 men and women. The dynamics are changing as we deepen commitment to rewarding consumer loyalty,” he said.
Mayor Esiaba, Head of Beer at Guinness Nigeria, said the promotion was designed to appreciate consumers whose continued patronage sustains the brand.
“Guinness Foreign Extra Stout has always stood for boldness, and Open For More was our way of saying thank you to the consumers who make that boldness possible,” he said, adding that the company would continue to develop experiences that recognise consumer loyalty.
Ifeoluwapo Odedere, Senior Brand Manager for Guinness, said the campaign translated the brand’s Open For More promise into tangible rewards for participating consumers.
She expressed appreciation to participants, noting that the range of prizes, from cash rewards to the grand prize vehicle, made the campaign particularly rewarding for the brand.
For Thompson, the win came as a surprise. She said previous encounters with fraud had initially made her suspicious when she received the notification that she had won.
“I am still in shock! I never imagined that opening a bottle of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout would lead to me driving home in a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado,” she said.
Thompson explained that she initially ended the call because she had been swindled twice earlier in the year and was wary of another possible scam.
She expressed gratitude to Guinness Nigeria for the prize, describing the experience as life-changing.
The conclusion of the Open For More promotion underscores Guinness Nigeria’s use of consumer engagement campaigns to strengthen brand loyalty, while regulatory oversight was intended to support transparency and fairness throughout the process.
