Leadway Group has commenced the second edition of Leadway Cares Week, its flagship annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community engagement initiative, with an expanded focus on healthcare, environmental sustainability, employee volunteering and community partnerships.

The 2026 edition builds on the inaugural programme, which brought Leadway employees and community members together through blood donation drives, environmental sanitation, market clean-ups, food and incentive donations, free eye screening and medical interventions.

This year’s programme extends those interventions to more communities across Nigeria while also strengthening the Group’s engagement beyond the country.

Activities include environmental sanitation, community clean-ups, tree planting and blood donation drives in Lagos, Ondo, Kaduna and Abuja, as well as cross-border participation in Côte d’Ivoire.

The initiative is designed to mobilise employees, partners and communities around practical interventions addressing immediate health and environmental needs.

Speaking on the programme, Tunde Hassan-Odukale, Group Chief Executive Officer, Leadway Holdings, said the company’s social responsibility extends beyond its core business. “We believe our responsibility goes beyond business. Leadway Cares is about showing up beyond our offerings, taking consistent and deliberate action, and creating opportunities for people and communities to grow and thrive.”

Niyi Abiola, Head, Corporate Services, Leadway Group, said the initiative provides an opportunity for the organisation to translate its commitment to social responsibility into practical action.

He said the strength of Leadway Cares Week lies in bringing employees, partners and communities together to address pressing needs while giving employees opportunities to contribute their time, skills and resources.

Health remains a major focus of the 2026 programme, with employees participating in blood donation drives aimed at supporting efforts to improve blood availability.

Environmental sustainability has also received greater attention, with activities including tree planting, environmental sanitation and coastal clean-up exercises.

According to Abiola, the interventions are intended to promote collective responsibility and create practical opportunities for employees, partners and communities to contribute to positive social and environmental outcomes.

The expansion of Leadway Cares Week reflects the Group’s broader approach to community engagement, combining employee participation with interventions targeted at health, environmental protection and community wellbeing.
