The Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) has launched a digital payment platform, PayPortal, allowing customers to make property-related payments online around the clock and receive instant confirmation of successful transactions.

The platform is part of the corporation’s efforts to modernise its operations, improve customer experience and respond to growing demand for faster and more accessible digital services.

Ayodeji Joseph, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LSDPC, said the initiative was driven by changing customer expectations and the increasing adoption of digital technology.

“This is an evolution and adapting to changing needs of our old and prospective clients’ expectations. We are marketing convenience, accessibility, 24-hour digital platform that is more responsive, and we are deploying Interswitch and Paystack as our gateway,” he said.

Joseph said PayPortal would reduce some of the traditional barriers associated with property payments while improving convenience, accessibility and efficiency for customers and other stakeholders.

He described the launch as another stage in the corporation’s evolution as a public institution serving a rapidly changing Lagos.

“Today is not simply about the introduction of a new payment platform. It is about evolution,” he said.

“It is about how an institution that has served Lagos for decades continues to adapt to the changing needs of the people it serves.”

Joseph said customers increasingly expected public institutions to provide services that were accessible, responsive and available through digital channels.

PayPortal will provide an additional payment channel, allowing customers to complete transactions without being restricted to physical interactions or conventional payment processes.

“Through the platform, customers can make payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with instant confirmation of completed transactions,” he said.

He stressed that the objective was not simply to introduce technology but to use it to improve the overall customer experience.

“As a public institution, we have a responsibility to continually examine our processes, identify areas for improvement and adopt appropriate technologies that can make our services more accessible to the people we serve,” Joseph said.

The digital payment platform forms part of LSDPC’s broader effort to modernise its operations and remain responsive to changes in how citizens interact with public institutions.

Joseph said the corporation’s transformation was a continuous process, noting that LSDPC had evolved alongside Lagos since its establishment.

“From 1972 to the digital age, we continue to evolve with Lagos. The city has grown, technology has transformed the way we live and work, and the way citizens engage with public institutions has changed. LSDPC must change with Lagos,” he said.

Joseph encouraged customers and stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the new platform.

He said customers could access the service by visiting www.payportal.lsdpc.gov.ng, creating a username and password, entering the required details and proceeding with their payments.

However, he clarified that PayPortal would not immediately replace the corporation’s existing manual payment system.

According to him, both systems will operate concurrently during the transition period to allow customers to become familiar with the digital platform.

Earlier, Head of the Information Technology Department, Mrs Monisola Oyewo, said the portal had been developed with emphasis on security, ease of use and customer experience.

She said the platform was designed to reduce transaction friction while protecting customers’ sensitive financial information.

“It’s developed with our customers in mind to have a modern, frictionless experience,” Oyewo said.

The corporation said PayPortal offers secure access, 24-hour availability and instant transaction confirmation, giving customers greater flexibility in managing their property-related payment obligations.

The launch marks another step in LSDPC’s digital transformation as the corporation seeks to align its services with the growing expectations of residents and stakeholders in Lagos.
