The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has organised a roadshow to raise public awareness of the World Public Relations Forum 2026, scheduled to take place in Abuja from 15 to 21 November 2026.
Members of the Institute turned out in large numbers for the awareness campaign, which covered more than five kilometres across Lagos. The exercise was part of a nationwide mobilisation initiative held simultaneously by NIPR chapters across the 36 states of Nigeria.
Speaking during the roadshow, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of NIPR, described the forthcoming forum as one of the largest gatherings of public relations and communication professionals from across the world.
According to him, the forum will bring together leading practitioners, policymakers, academics, business executives, media professionals and other stakeholders to discuss the evolving role of responsible communication in addressing global challenges.
With the theme “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World,” the forum is expected to stimulate important conversations on the need for strategic, ethical and responsible communication as an antidote to miscommunication, misinformation, disinformation and propaganda, which continue to fuel conflicts, deepen divisions and undermine public trust across the world.
Dr. Ayetutu noted that hosting the global forum represents a significant opportunity for Nigeria to demonstrate its leadership in public relations and strategic communication. He added that the event would provide a platform to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, creativity and hospitality, while helping to reshape the country’s reputation and promote a more compelling national narrative before an international audience.
“The World Public Relations Forum will enable Nigeria to tell its own story, highlight its enormous potential and deepen meaningful engagement between local professionals and their counterparts from around the world,” he said.
He further stated that the forum would facilitate knowledge exchange, professional networking and international collaboration, while exposing Nigerian practitioners and young communication professionals to global best practices, emerging technologies and innovative approaches to reputation management.
Beyond its professional value, the forum is also expected to contribute to Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality sectors, attract international visitors and investment interest, and strengthen Abuja’s position as a destination for major global conferences.
The Lagos State Chapter called on public relations practitioners, communication professionals, government institutions, private-sector organisations, academics, students and other stakeholders to participate actively in the historic forum.
