The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has unveiled the customised award plaque for the 2026 Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA), as it extends the deadline for entries to October 30, 2026.

The chapter also announced that the LaPRIGA gala will now take place on Thursday, December 17, 2026, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

The unveiling of the plaque marks another milestone in preparations for the inaugural edition of the industry awards, which seeks to recognise outstanding public relations campaigns, reputation management initiatives, crisis communication efforts and other notable work by practitioners and communication teams in Lagos.

The LaPRIGA plaque is designed in the shape of a crown, symbolising the recognition and celebration of excellence within Lagos’ public relations community.

According to the organisers, the black and gold base represents the foundation laid by generations of Nigerian PR practitioners, while the pen-nib design represents the central role of communication and storytelling in the profession.

Gold letters “L” and “P” at the centre of the design represent Lagos Public Relations.

Four stars positioned along the pen symbolise the Centre of Excellence and the professional excellence being celebrated by the awards.

Two gold medallions on either side of the plaque represent the influence of PR practice beyond Lagos, while two slender gold strokes signify the next generation of practitioners coming into the profession.

At the top of the plaque, two gold flames represent the aspiration to extend the impact of Nigerian public relations beyond the country’s borders.

The organisers said the use of gold represents excellence, while black reflects the influence and power of the profession in shaping public narratives and organisational reputation.

The NIPR Lagos Chapter has invited practitioners, PR agencies and in-house communication teams to submit their outstanding work for consideration across the various award categories.

Entries may include PR campaigns, reputation management programmes, crisis communication initiatives and other projects that demonstrate measurable impact and professional excellence.

The submission deadline has been extended to October 30, 2026, allowing entrants additional time to compile case studies, results and supporting documentation.

Submitted entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges, with winners to receive the newly unveiled LaPRIGA plaque at the gala.

The chapter has encouraged members to submit their entries early rather than wait until the final days of the submission window.

The LaPRIGA gala will bring together PR practitioners, corporate communication professionals, clients, media organisations and other stakeholders to celebrate achievements in the Lagos public relations industry.

Speaking on the plaque unveiling, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, fnipr, Chairman of the NIPR Lagos State Chapter, said the initiative was designed to recognise work that often happens away from public attention.

“A great deal of the good work done by PR people in this city is never seen by the public it serves. This plaque is our way of saying we have seen it,” Ayetutu said.

He urged members to submit work they were proud of during the year, adding that the chapter looked forward to celebrating the best of Lagos PR at the December gala.

The 2026 LaPRIGA gala is scheduled for Thursday, December 17, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
