WION correspondent Louisa Olaniyi has emerged among the leading technology and media professionals recognised at the 2026 Technology Innovation and Leadership Awards (TiLAwards), alongside a distinguished list of individuals and organisations shaping Nigeria’s digital economy.
Olaniyi, a Nigerian Correspondent with WION (World Is One News), was recognised with the Technology Media & Broadcast Excellence Award, highlighting her contribution to technology journalism and broadcast coverage.
Her recognition was among several honours presented at the TiLAwards 2026, organised by TechEconomy, to celebrate individuals, companies and public institutions contributing to technology innovation, digital transformation and leadership in Nigeria.
The award organisers had earlier notified Olaniyi of her nomination in the Technology Media & Broadcast Excellence category, describing the nomination as recognition of her leadership and contribution to advancing technology innovation across the sector.
The 2026 awards brought together recognitions spanning emerging technology leadership, technology journalism, digital transformation, fintech, public-sector innovation and corporate technology leadership.
Other personalities recognised in the technology leadership and media excellence categories included Adeshina Adewunmi, CEO of Trade Lenda, who received the Financial Inclusion & MSME Finance Leadership Award.
Kehinde Ogundare, Regional Manager, Zoho Nigeria, was named Tech Business Leader of the Year, while Ayodeji Stephen Saliu received the Digital Transformation Champion of the Year award.
In the media excellence category, Prince Osuagwu received the Technology Journalism Excellence Award, while Chike Onwuegbuchu was recognised with the Technology Journalism & Industry Leadership Award.
The individual technology leadership honours also featured prominent names in technology journalism and digital communications.
Adeyemi Adepetun received the Technology Journalism Leadership Award, while Linda Ochugua was honoured with the Digital Brand & Marketing Excellence Award.
Another Technology Journalism Leadership Award went to Emma Okonji, while Olaniyi completed the media and broadcast honours with the Technology Media & Broadcast Excellence Award.
The TiLAwards also recognised companies making notable contributions to Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
Outcess was named Technology Company of the Year, while Upperlink Limited received the Excellence in Domain Name Services Award.
Zoho Nigeria was recognised for Excellence in SME Cloud Technology & Digital Enablement, while TeamApt received the Best Payment Switching Company of the Year award.
The corporate recognitions underscore the expanding role of technology companies in providing digital infrastructure, cloud solutions, payment services and other platforms supporting businesses and consumers.
The awards also extended to public institutions, reflecting the growing importance of digital technology in public administration and service delivery.
The Anambra State ICT Agency received the Digital Government Transformation Award, while the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) was recognised with the Nigeria Internet Identity & Stewardship Award.
Fintech companies were also prominent among the 2026 awardees. PalmPay received two recognitions, Most Innovative Fintech Platform of the Year and Best Mobile Payment Platform of the Year.
Eazipay received the Digital Payroll & Payment Innovation Excellence Award. The fintech recognitions reflect the continuing expansion of digital payments and technology-driven financial services in Nigeria.
The awards also spotlighted emerging leaders contributing to product development and innovation.
Abisola Aderohunmu received the Product Growth & Innovation Leader of the Year award.
