The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced September 10, 2026, as the deadline for registration for its 2026 November/December certificate examinations.
The board, however, said candidates for the December Modular Trades Certificate Examination have until September 30, 2026, to complete their registration.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Benin by Uchechukwu Olisah, Assistant Director, Media/Protocol, NABTEB.
The September 10 deadline applies to candidates registering for the National Business Certificate (NBC), National Technical Certificate (NTC), Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC) and Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC) examinations.
Registration for the NBC, NTC, ANBC and ANTC examinations commenced on August 10, 2026.
Olisah urged prospective candidates who are yet to register to complete the process before the relevant deadlines.
“Prospective candidates and other stakeholders are advised to complete their registration before the respective deadlines,” he said.
NABTEB said candidates registering for the NBC/NTC examinations are required to pay a ₦22,500 registration fee, while those registering for the ANBC/ANTC examinations will pay ₦25,500.
The registration fee for the December Modular Trades Certificate Examination is ₦6,000.
The board urged schools, technical and vocational institutions, apprenticeship centres, prospective candidates and other stakeholders to comply with its approved registration requirements.
It also advised candidates to obtain registration information exclusively through NABTEB’s authorised channels to avoid errors, delays and other complications during the registration process.
According to the board, the examinations are part of its mandate to provide competency-based assessment and certification in business and technical education.
NABTEB said its examinations are also designed to support skilled manpower development and strengthen technical and vocational education and training as a pathway to employment, economic empowerment and self-reliance.
The latest registration deadline comes amid efforts by the board to strengthen technical and vocational education in Nigeria and make its programmes more responsive to changing workplace requirements.
In July 2026, NABTEB reported a significant decline in enrolment for its National Common Entrance Examination into Technical Colleges. The number of candidates fell by 47.74 per cent to 15,290, compared with 29,260 candidates in 2025.
Despite the decline in enrolment, 75.29 per cent of the 13,848 candidates who sat for the 2026 examination scored at least 50 per cent.
NABTEB has also been reviewing its trade programmes to align technical education with industry needs. In September 2025, the board commenced a review of 26 trade syllabi as part of efforts to upgrade technical colleges.
The board is also pursuing the digitalisation of its examination processes, with the aim of improving efficiency, strengthening examination integrity and modernising assessment procedures.
The Federal Government has similarly announced measures to strengthen staffing in federal secondary and technical schools, including the approval in August 2026 of the recruitment of 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association teachers into the federal public service.
Candidates intending to sit for the 2026 November/December NABTEB examinations are therefore expected to complete their registration within the stipulated deadlines.
