CIG Motors Group has donated 10 operational vehicles valued at more than N300 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to strengthen the mobility and operational capacity of security agencies across the state.
The vehicles, comprising four Wuling N111s, three Wuling XC250s and three JMC Vigus pickup trucks, were formally handed over by Chief Diana Chen, CIG Motors Group Chairman, to Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, LSSTF Executive Secretary and CEO, at the company’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ogunsan said the vehicles would support rapid response, logistics, field deployment and emergency operations by security personnel across Lagos.
He commended CIG Motors for its continued support for the state’s security architecture, noting that LSSTF relies heavily on contributions from individuals, businesses and corporate organisations.
“Madam, we will not forget this in a long time. Generations will not forget it. Posterity will not forget it,” Ogunsan said, assuring the company that the vehicles would be properly maintained and deployed for maximum impact.
Chen said security was fundamental to economic prosperity and investment, particularly in a commercial hub such as Lagos.
“Security is the first infrastructure of prosperity. Protecting Lagos means protecting lives, livelihoods, enterprise and the economic future of our nation,” she said.
She described CIG Motors as a long-term development partner to the Lagos State Government and said the company remained committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the state’s development.
CIG Motors is the exclusive distributor of GAC Motor, Wuling and JMC vehicles in Nigeria.
The latest donation builds on several interventions by the company in support of security and public services.
In September 2020, CIG Motors donated five Dongfeng security trucks to LSSTF for use by the Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps and Lagos State Taskforce.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Diana Chen Foundation also donated 50,000 face masks, an ambulance and N20 million to support security and healthcare workers in Lagos.
In August 2022, the company donated a vehicle to the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command. It has also supplied 150 vehicles to the Dangote Group for the Nigeria Police Force.
CIG Motors’ partnership with the Lagos State Government extends to LAGRIDE, the state-backed ride-hailing initiative focused on job creation and urban mobility.
The latest intervention is expected to provide additional operational support to security agencies and improve their ability to respond quickly to incidents across Lagos.
