FirstHoldCo Plc has made history by becoming the first Nigerian banking group to achieve a market capitalisation of more than N6 trillion, underscoring a remarkable rally in its share price this year.
The milestone was reached during trading on Monday, August 3, 2026, when the company’s shares climbed to N136.50, pushing its market value to approximately N6.21 trillion based on its 45.48 billion outstanding shares.
The achievement further cements FirstHoldCo’s position as Nigeria’s most valuable listed banking group.
The N6 trillion valuation comes less than two weeks after FirstHoldCo crossed the N5 trillion market capitalisation mark for the first time on July 22, following the release of its strong half-year financial results.
The latest milestone highlights the company’s rapid appreciation in value, driven by sustained investor demand and positive market sentiment.
At its current share price, the stock has delivered a 184.97 per cent year-to-date return and has gained 143.53 per cent since the end of June, making it one of the Nigerian Exchange’s strongest-performing banking stocks in 2026.
The rally reflects growing investor confidence in FirstHoldCo’s earnings outlook and long-term growth prospects.
The bank’s strong financial performance, combined with heightened market interest following recent strategic investments by key shareholders, has continued to support demand for the stock.
The latest milestone follows a series of major developments for the financial group, including recent disclosures that billionaire investor Femi Otedola increased his stake in the company to 25.87 per cent after acquiring additional shares valued at more than N222 billion.
FirstHoldCo’s record valuation marks a significant milestone not only for the company but also for Nigeria’s banking sector, highlighting renewed investor appetite for financial stocks amid improving corporate earnings and broader market optimism.
